Aligned with the gender mainstreaming agenda enshrined in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, UN Women supports the Government of Georgia in integrating gender data and analysis in policymaking and budgetary processes.

UN Women actively continues supporting gender mainstreaming in the education system of Georgia and closely cooperates with the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth.

UN Women and the Civil Service Bureau hosted a presentation of the GIA of the Law of Georgia on Public Service. The results of the research aim to support the Government of Georgia in identifying existing gender gaps in the Law and informing legislative and policy initiatives on mainstreaming gender equality and promoting women’s leadership in public service.

On 5 July 2022, the Parliamentary Gender Equality Council presented the results of the Parliamentary Thematic Inquiry on Gender Mainstreaming in Governmental Policies to about 30 representatives of legislative and executive government, as well as development organizations.

In cooperation with the national partners, UN Women is working towards institutionalization of GIA in Georgia. The reform aims to contribute towards strengthening good governance, gender-responsive and evidence-based policymaking in Georgia.

To improve the gender balance in the civil service, the Civil Service Bureau and UN Women are accelerating their partnership around creating gender-responsive employment policies and promoting equal representation and leadership in the civil service.

UN Women continues its partnership with the Ministry of Defence of Georgia to integrate a gender perspective and support relevant knowledge-sharing.

My main goal is to help people understand and accept human rights and gender equality through art. Equal rights will help people nurture their skills and talents to build a better life without fear of being left behind in many ways – to make independent career choices, be promoted for talents, ask for help, be weak, or be strong, without criticism from the community.

UN Women continues to work with security sector institutions to mainstream gender and share knowledge on gender equality principles.

On 10 March 2021, the Public Defender’s Office, in partnership with UN Women, hosted the presentation of the Public Defender’s special report “Review of Georgia’s Gender Mainstreaming Obligations and their Fulfilment Status”.

UN Women and the Ministry of Defence of Georgia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their cooperation to promote the Women, Peace and Security agenda in the security sector.
