Ensuring diversity, equality and inclusion in the workplace, as an important driver for business success, is one of the most pressing issues for the private sector and investors. Significantly, it not only enhances the creation of a decent working environment but also makes a weighty contribution to the improvement of public life and the economy as a whole.

UN Women, with the support of the Government of Norway, is actively working to promote diversity and inclusion in business companies. In order to share knowledge and experience on relevant issues, for the first time in Georgia, UN Women, in cooperation with the Human Resources Management Professionals Association (HRPA), has developed a diversity, equality and inclusion certificate programme for HR management specialists. Its objective is to help HR professionals to create an equal and dignified working environment in their organizations.

It is this direction that the manual ‘Deep Dive into Diversity, Equality and Inclusion’ aims to develop. It was created for HR management professionals by an international expert, on the initiative of UN Women.

The goal of the guide is to provide industry professionals with the necessary knowledge and practical experience to help them develop and implement diversity, equality and inclusion policies and practices in the workplace. In addition, the guide is designed for corporate leaders who aim to contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals through their business activities.

“The role of and need for diversity, equality and inclusion are still poorly understood by both private companies and government organizations,” says Lasha Ghvaladze, a Global Human Resources Business Partner at FINCA Impact Finance. “This guide will be of good, practical help to them, especially to HR professionals—all the more so as it contains a model of diversity, equality and inclusion policy.”

The manual will be used for the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Certificate Programme. At the same time, it has been posted on the UN Women website and is available to any interested professional.

The initiative was implemented by the UN Women Georgia Country Office as part of its “Good Governance for Gender Equality in Georgia” project, which is funded by the Government of Norway.
