A 41-year-old forester and Deputy Head of the National Forestry Agency, Natia Iordanishvili is the first woman to hold a decision-making position in the history of Georgia’s forestry sector.

Gender inequality and the climate crisis are two of the greatest challenges of our time. They pose threats to ways of life, livelihoods, health, safety and security for women and girls around the world.

Ani Chkoidze, 32, is one of the founders of the Zero Effect store. Zero Effect is a zero-waste space where people can buy eco-friendly products, including items made by women entrepreneurs, and get useful information on environmental issues.

The Karaleti Women’s Solidarity Center conducted three online trainings for the women living in target villages on the issues of stress management and efficient time management. In addition, the participants received psychological counselling and heard answers to interesting questions.

With the support of UN Women and the US Department of State, regular meetings continue between the participants of the Geneva International Discussions (GID) and civil society organizations.

The Government of Georgia approved the NAP on the Implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions on Women, Peace and Security; and the NAP on the Measures to be Implemented for Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.

UN Women and the European Union in partnership with the Inter-Agency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence organized a workshop on drafting the National Communication Action Plan on Ending Violence against Women.

The Inter-agency Commission on Gender Equality with technical support from UN Women and UNFPA, embarked on drafting the 2018-2020 National Action Plan on the Measures to be Implemented for Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence and Protection of Victims/Survivors.
