Women’s Economic Empowerment in Georgia
This issue brief describes the facts and figures related to women’s economic empowerment in Georgia. Based on data from Country Gender Equality profile (2023) and other relevant studies, the publication shows that although women and men have equal access to higher education and women often achieve better educational outcomes, these attainments do not translate into women’s economic empowerment: Women still face significant barriers to labour force participation, managerial representation, entrepreneurship, equal pay and access to various assets and finance.
This publication was prepared in the framework of the UN Women project „women’s increased leadership for democracy in Georgia (WILD) funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
