Executive Director
Ms. Sima Sami Bahous became UN Women’s third Executive Director on 30 September 2021. A champion for women and girls, gender equality, and youth empowerment, as well as a keen advocate for quality education, poverty alleviation, and inclusive governance, Ms. Bahous brings to the position more than 35 years of leadership experience at the grassroots, national, regional, and international levels.
About UN Women in Georgia
UN Women entered Georgia in 2001. The first regional project of the organization implemented under UNIFEM was Women for Conflict Prevention and Peace-building in the Southern Caucasus. During six years of implementation of the project gender was a strong, sometimes the only means of encouraging grassroots diplomacy and informal dialogue among conflicting sides. Country Representative
Ms. Kaori Ishikawa serves as the UN Women Country Representative to Georgia since August 2021. Kaori brings over 20 years of extensive experience managing peace, humanitarian and development programmes as well as policy and advocacy work in over 20 countries.
