“Woman in Focus” - UN Women celebrates International Women’s Day in Georgia

Several stories about women from different walks of life will be presented by UN Women, in partnership with the Noosfera Foundation, at the “Woman in Focus” documentary film festival from 8 to 10 March 2017 to mark International Women’s Day.

These films, created by women film directors, will once again remind us of the obstacles, stereotypes and barriers faced by women these days. The festival will open with the film “Sonita” by Iranian director Rokhsareh Ghaem Maghami. On 9 and 10 March, four documentaries created by various women cinematographers from Czech Republic, France, Holland and Georgia will be presented within the framework of “Woman in Focus”.

The film screenings will take place at Rustaveli cinema and will be followed by panel discussions, in which the audiences will have an opportunity to exchange views with Georgian women’s rights and human rights activists. The film festival is conducted within the structure of Gender Week, celebrated every year in Georgia.
