The initiative comes from the UN Women Georgia Country Office and is supported by Tbilisi City Hall. With this symbolic gesture, the capital of Georgia joined this year’s global campaign against gender-based violence. The campaign was launched on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and will last for 16 days. Tbilisi first joined the campaign in 2016.

As orange is the official colour of the campaign, cities around the globe express their support to the campaign by illuminating landmark buildings and sites in the colour. Orange also dominates the activities related to this day.

Any person is welcome to become part of the campaign and express solidarity in the fight against violence against women by wearing orange clothes or accessories on 25 November.

The 16-day international campaign against gender-based violence has been marked since the beginning of the 1990s. It aims to raise public awareness and demonstrate solidarity towards the victims of gender-based violence.
