This initiative is a component of the project “Joint Action for Women’s Economic Empowerment in Georgia” and addresses the key challenges faced by women entrepreneurs - access to financial services and education. A total of 50 entrepreneurs will attend the capacity-building trainings within the project framework. The first group of 25 women has already been selected.

On 25 July 2018, the women entrepreneurs attended their first training on organizational management. During the training, the participants acquired knowledge in the areas of management, organizational management, emotional intelligence and leadership.

Tika Didishvili, one of the training participants, runs her business from the Samegrelo region, western Georgia. She noted: “Such projects are a big incentive for women living in the regions. It supports us to expand our activities. We will have an opportunity to contact big companies and learn from their experience. It is also important that we can acquire new knowledge and skills within the framework of the project.”

At the same time, the Georgian Farmers’ Association continues to look for women entrepreneurs to form the second group. Those chosen will have businesses in the west of Georgia and will be willing to acquire new knowledge and skills to expand their operations.

It is noteworthy that within the framework of this initiative, 25 women entrepreneurs will receive a grant for their business to extend. The project, with its capacity-building objective, will also support these grant recipients in building partnerships with large companies.

The project “Joint Action for Women’s Economic Empowerment in Georgia” is implemented by UN Women with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
