Today, on the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), we reiterate our solidarity with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex (LGBTQI+) community in Georgia.

The LGBTQI communities are one of the most vulnerable and marginalized segments of Georgian society. Their members face discrimination and violence in different areas of life, and there are still significant challenges remaining with regard to the protection and realization of their rights.

Giorgi Margvelashvili, the President of Georgia, who declared 2015 as the Year of Women, expressed his support for the increased participation of women in politics by introduction of mandatory quotas.
