UN Women, with the support of the Government of Norway and in partnership with the private sector, has been supporting women’s participation in ICT since 2018.

One of the most important ways to support the involvement of women and girls in information and communication technologies (ICT) is to set positive examples, including those of business organizations that strive to encourage girls in a male-dominated, stereotypical field.

Six women engaged in the ICT sector shared their impressive stories with the audience gathered for PechaKucha Nights.

500 Women in Technology will be implemented with the support of UN Women and with the involvement of Business and Technology University, TBC Bank, the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) signatory companies, and IT representatives.

In Georgia, there is a clear gender division among professions. Information technology is one of the most male-dominated and, at the same time, highly paid fields. UN Women developed the pilot initiative to address this inequality in collaboration with public and private organizations.

Giorgi Margvelashvili, the President of Georgia, who declared 2015 as the Year of Women, expressed his support for the increased participation of women in politics by introduction of mandatory quotas.
