Each year, the world bears the consequences of disasters. Existing systemic social and economic challenges increase communities’ exposure to the risks of climate crisis. Due to existing gender barriers and limited access to resources and information, the impact of disasters on women and girls is particularly severe.

The following document provides a brief overview of the project “Gender in Disaster Risk Reduction” (GDRR), which is being implemented by UN Women with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
